Gromit, the canine star of the Wallace & Gromit animation, is “breaking his silence” and writing a memoir.
According to publisher Ebury, after “bottling everything for a long time”, it was time for them to “spill the beans”.
Grand: The Autobiography of Gromit will reveal his “never before told” life story, including details such as “what it’s like to wear techno trousers, his true feelings about elves and what the moon tastes like”.
The book is due to be published in October and will be the first time audiences will hear from Gromit himself, who has no dialogue in the beloved Aardman animation.
Creator Nick Park said, “I’m so excited to announce that Wallace’s loyal and even more intelligent dog Gromit has decided to break his silence, put pen to paper, hands on keyboard, and share some of his innermost thoughts and feelings with the world.” “He tells of their lives and loves, their affections and sufferings, their pet hates and fur-vent obsessions, and his book promises to be a deep dish of dog nuggets and wisdom to chew on.”
The publisher’s biography of the author describes Gromit as a talented weaver, baker and gardener. “He has received awards twice for his marrow in competitions. Although he is very well-read, this is his first book. He wants you to know what a good dog he is.”
