TV headliner Nathan Fillion stars in this ridiculous, entertaining, and highly entertaining police melodrama about a middle-aged divorcee who moves to Los Angeles to become a cop. It’s kind of like the Ryan Murphy show CSI. The first season remains relatively grassroots, with Fillion’s officer John Nolan learning the ropes with his budding fellow rookies under the tutelage of his serious training officers, who call the rookies “boots” as if in some sort of bizarre college hazing ritual. But now with eight seasons under their belt, you can bet they’ll be jumping like sharks. Which is styled like a true crime doc. The epitome of smoothbrain genius.
